Innovation Booster Bootcamp

Kabale University has taken a bold step in strengthening its innovation ecosystem with the official launch of the Innovation Booster Boot Camp 2025/2026, a five day intensive training aimed at transforming research ideas into market ready solutions.

The boot camp, which commenced on May 4, 2026 at the MTN Spark Hub, is being hosted through the Directorate of Research and Grants (DRG) as part of the University’s broader commitment to research driven innovation and commercialization.

Day One of the program drew over 150 student and staff innovators beneficiaries of the Kabale University Research and Innovation Fund marking a vibrant and engaging start to the training. Participants were immersed in sessions focused on problem definition and business model development, facilitated by Enock Ampumuza from the Africa Agribusiness Incubators Network. Using the Business Model Canvas, innovators were guided to refine their concepts into structured, market oriented solutions.

The sessions combined expert led facilitation, interactive discussions, and mentorship, enabling participants to critically assess real world challenges and strengthen their value propositions. Emphasis was placed on aligning academic research with viable business opportunities capable of delivering tangible socio-economic impact, including job creation and enterprise development.

The boot camp is organized under the Directorate of Research and Grants with support from the Research and Grants Advisory Board, under the guidance of Ass. Prof. Agnes Ariho Babugura and Madam Akello Jacqueline. The initiative is specifically designed to bridge the gap between research and commercialization, ensuring that innovations developed within the University extend beyond academic outputs to real world application.

As the week unfolds, the boot camp is expected to further deepen participants’ capacity in innovation development, positioning Kabale University as a growing hub for impactful, solution oriented research and entrepreneurship.
