On 9th September 2026, BioCosmos Uganda, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences at Kabale University, hosted an academic forum on “Intelligent Design Through the Lenses of African Scholars,” part of the Western Uganda Region Academic Forum for Universities. Held in the FAES Incubation Hub, the forum brought together staff and students from the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, and FETADA and was sponsored fully by the BioCosmos Ugnada. The forum was opened by Dr. Julius Alexander Arinaitwe, the Chief, Directorate of Research and Grants.
What Is Intelligent Design?
Intelligent Design (ID) is a scientific and philosophical framework proposing that certain features of the universe and living organisms, particularly complex, information-rich biological systems, are better explained by an intelligent cause than by undirected natural processes such as natural selection alone. Its core concepts include irreducible complexity (systems that stop functioning if any part is removed), specified complexity, and the notion of a fine-tuned universe.
