KIKUNGIRI HILL, KABALE — On September 28, 2026, the interim U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, Mikael Cleverley, made an official visit to Kabale University’s main campus in southwestern Uganda. The high-profile visit marked a key moment in strengthening educational collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships between U.S. institutions and Ugandan universities.
During his visit, Ambassador Cleverley engaged in bilateral discussions with the leadership and students of Kabale University. The conversations focused on ,Expanding Research & Innovation: Advancing joint initiatives in critical sectors including healthcare, digital skills, technology, and regional development, Academic Exchanges & Global Connectivity: Exploring programs to widen access to international opportunities, scholarship avenues, and student exchange initiatives.
A central highlight of the day was an interactive open session where Ambassador Cleverley met directly with students across various academic departments. The ambassador emphasized the role of youth leadership, global competitiveness, and civic responsibility in shaping Uganda’s socioeconomic future.
