The Faculty of Engineering, Technology, Applied Design, and Fine Art, through the Department of Civil Engineering, successfully hosted a PhD Proposal Defense Session that brought together postgraduate researchers, academic staff, industry professionals, and members of the wider community for scholarly engagement and academic exchange.
The session featured ten PhD candidates presenting innovative research proposals addressing critical challenges in engineering, construction management, sustainable infrastructure, environmental conservation, climate resilience, transportation systems, and low-carbon technologies. The presentations showcased cutting-edge solutions aimed at advancing sustainable development and improving engineering practice in Uganda and beyond.
The defense provided a vibrant platform for rigorous academic discussion, constructive feedback, and knowledge sharing as candidates refined their research concepts under the guidance of experts and peers. The diverse research topics reflected the Faculty’s commitment to promoting innovation, sustainability, and evidence-based solutions to contemporary development challenges.
