UIPE Mentorship & Outreach at Kabale University: Bridging Theory to Industry-Ready Engineers

Kabale University Faculty of Engineering,Tecnology,Applied Design and Fine Art hosted a high-impact mentorship and outreach program organized by the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE).

UIPE is the National Corporate body established by an Act of Parliament mandated to bring together and regulate Fellows, Corporate Engineers, Graduate Members, Technologists, Technicians, and Engineering Students across Uganda.

In line with its core branch mandate of Mentorship & Outreach, UIPE engaged academic staff, students, and graduates to guide them on the pathway of professional registration and ethical excellence.

The program, held on 18th September 2026 at UNITE kabale, featured:
1. Practical professional tours, including the Hamurwa Power Substation
2. Technical keynotes from elite practicing engineers

A central highlight was the official Launch of the UIPE Mbarara Branch Membership Education and Training (MET) Fund. The fund aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry-ready engineering professionals in Uganda by directly sponsoring practical student training, hands-on workshops, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs that prepare the next generation of engineers for the workforce.

For Kabale University engineering students, the program provided an important platform to interact with experienced professionals, gain practical industry insights, and better understand the journey from academic training to professional engineering practice.
